The journey to where I am today has happened gradually. My parents, by both circumstance and preference, did not rush us to the doctor often. “Waiting and seeing” was generally the way and it served us alongside a mammoth dose of being outside and eating home-cooked meals.
Since my childhood, and especially since having my own children, I began to be aware of the declining health of friends and those I share this country with. Overweight and tired is the norm. The mental resilience of the species seems to teeter at the edge of being functional or happy.
When I met Aleksandra Evanguelidi, a licensed midwife and holistic consultant, she attended me through the birth of my first child and the unexpected delivery of another me. I discovered that unlimited health is to be found in our own bodies and through benign-seeming experiences like long walks and warm, real-food dinners.
Our children, our mothers, fathers and grandparents do not have to go the way of modern health. We can benefit from both the incredible technology of western medicine and timeless wisdom that prevents the need of most western solutions.
We can heal tooth decay, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, along with severe degenerative diseases like MS, and other modern diseases that have become so pervasive we think of them as a variation of normal. Our generation has the gift of living the healthiest and longest life, if we choose it.
When I learned to heal my daughter with food it was clear that I was opting into something new. I had no idea I would get mental, emotional, and spiritual increase, or that my body would find a comfortable weight (without the drama that colored my life for 12 years) and I would find peace.
